Holiday Home Safety Tips

While many are celebrating with friends, family, and neighbors, it's important to ensure your safety this holiday season.  The Pinal County Sheriff's Office would like you to consider consider the following tips:

  • Let a trustworthy neighbor know if you're heading out of town so they can keep an eye out for anything suspicious.
  • Ask a neighbor or friend to bring in your mail and trash cans so it appears someone is home.
  • Don't hide a key outside the house!
  • Don't share travel plans on social media. This information could tip off a thief as to when your home will be unoccupied.
  • Keep high-end gifts hidden from view.
  • Break down boxes from electronics, and don't leave them sitting on the curb. Advertising your new toys could make your home a target.
  • Add Emergency Contacts to Nextdoor so your neighbors have another way to help out in case a safety concern arises. Go to your profile and select "Add Emergency Contacts."
  • Always lock your doors and windows and arm your security system when you leave. It may seem obvious, but don't forget this simple step to ensure your home stays secure.

Thank you! Let's stay safe this holiday season and please remember don't drive impaired.
